To call or not to call?

I am one of those people who loves birthdays and i get excited as soon as my birthday month begins.
When the clock strikes 12, phonecalls start coming. I love people wishing me personally, and phonecalls are just a level apart from texts and facebook and whatsapp wishes. As much as I love the calls, I also get tired of answering the same set of questions repeatedly. After 6-7 calls, I feel like I need a break. Though I know I will get a 365 day break!
And I'll feel bad if nobody calls me,however, i will feel exhausted if too many people call me. Damn I'm a confused person.
At the same time, I think birthday calls are very important. People remember your call even if you don't stay in touch the whole year :D Thus the dilemma. To call or not to call?
Actually I know the answer is to call because the happiness weighs out the repetitive answer irritation syndrome anyday :D

How much alcohol/smoking is bad for us?

So I wanted to convince someone to not smoke pot too much and keep it in check, which led me to think that how much alcohol/smoking/pot is bad? Between somebody who drinks twice or thrice a month and still has a healthy food and workout routine, and somebody who doesn't drink at all but has a lazy life with no workouts and lots of junk food, who would you consider better off?

Plus some people have the concept of occasionally. "I only drink a can of beer in a week" "I only smoked in college" "I smoke pot when i'm in goa" "I am not addicted I can stop whenever I can".
How do we measure the damage?

So now we know that a person who doesn't drink/smoke, takes no caffeine, exercises everyday and eats healthy, is the healthIEST, but aren't most of us not in that category and mediocre people lying somewhere in between?

I am not saying if you drink and smoke you will die early or you will have a miserable life etc etc  lol that's not true.People need to have some fun. But ponder over your plus and minus points and make compensations for the booze and fun and lazy days you have.Moderation is the key.
Cheers :)

But first, Let me take a Selfayyyyy!

Click.Click.Click.
Pictures seem to be the world's new obsession.
Cameras have improved drastically, cameras have come down to everyone's hands,so naturally photography has become common, easy and pleasurable.
Who doesn't like to see themselves smiling in a nice new dress or near the flower bearing tree or besides a sculpture or in front of a lake or just any damn place?
And we welcomed the super addicting selfie with wide open arms.
Oxford Dictionary’s word of the year 2013, that is.
So a Selfie basically removes the need of a photographer or a tripod stand ,or any kind human being who would click a picture of you, and enables you to click anything and everything yourself.
It has an element of independence to it I guess, speaking figuratively.
So now the Selfie ritual is fast spreading, and prevailing.
But have we become so smitten that it has gotten unmatched importance?
Sure, pictures are good for memories and maybe every meeting and occasion deserves at least 1 picture.
But are people meeting for pictures? Is the motive of meetings just for the sake of good pictures so you can upload it on fb and whatsapp and instagram and what not.
Slowly and steadily, the selfie has become a madness and it has already taken over quite a lot of kids and teens.
I'm saying, don't ban them but don't spoil your mood because your eyes were closed in 1 picture and there was too much light in the 2nd and your hair weren't in place in the 1000th. :P
Meaningful conversations have taken a back seat, and taking selfies with your friend has become the new friendship indicator/proof.
Anyways,a selfieneverkillednobody
Though the pouts and duckfaces might kill me of excessive laughter someday.

Good day! J

Explore.Discover.

We have all been travelling since childhood! Be it summer vacations at Grandparent's house, or for functions like weddings or family holidays at Kashmir or North East or South India or wherever you like!
Travelling is one solid learning process, and it sure teaches you a lot! Mainly adjusting and adapting to new situations. What does Travelling mean? It basically is getting out of your comfort zone! Travelling is not about exotic vacations always! It can be an urgent visit, a trip to some relative, a business conference, a simple drive to some place 70-100 kms away, a school trip, a trek, a spiritual trip to Shirdi, anything, everything! Getting out of your house, meeting people is verrry important. Why? lets see!

  • The earth is basically a very beautiful planet,so the more you can look around, the better!
  • Meeting your family or taking a trip with your friends is really good stuff, and it makes you a more socially flexible person.
  • Packing your bags, putting on your holiday clothes, clicking pictures, eating diverse dishes, are all fun things to do!
  • Exploring a new place, asking for directions, perhaps even making new friends, are all happy-vibe-emitting-things.
  • Any kind of experience, good or bad, is great for your personality.

Planning is a skill worth learning, and you can also face some problems if your trip isn't well planned, unless it"s a freelance fun category of trip which has minimal planning which can be a little risky, but then again, the fun category of people love risks!

The excuse that Travelling is expensive, is a bad one, its not about money, its about priorities. So what if you stay in a homestay instead of a 3 star hotel or take a bus instead of the taxi! Spend on good food and sight seeing and maybe some souvenir shopping

instead! Exciting people who enjoy their life believe in travelling and taking out time for atleast 2 trips a year! They save money accordingly, smartly.

So don't miss out on any chance you get to travel, unless you have some really important work at home or some exam-class-college etc.
Solo travel is also gaining popularity these days, but I won't suggest that to everyone.
Go out there and check out the world,as much as you can. Improve your photography skills! Stay safe and avoid mishaps, stay connected with people who care for you. Or, instead, totally cut off your network, ditch your cellphone, and make it a buzz-free vacation if you really need a break from your stressful relationship with Technology and Internet! :)

Tadaaaa

Not perfect, but good enough :)

You're watching tv, you have homework pending, you forgot to plan a gift for your friend's bday the next day, you had a normal day at work or college, something nice for dinner,a lil argument with your dad over how much time you spend on your phone, half of your new year resolutions are long gone, you're feeling too lazy to clean up your study table or hard drive .You had a brief hi hello with some of your buddies. A namaste to some uncle aunty. You have some friends whom you have'nt met in ages, and some whom you meet everyday.
Pretty normal.

Here's something you only learn after a blow. A shock.
Sudden incidents that are irreversible.
And they leave you with lifelong regrets. They are depressing because you were too ignorant or lazy or easygoing when there was time and now you can't do anything about it.
Anyways, what might cheer you(in this case,me) up is life's still good. To do justice with it, you have to have a goal,a set of good habits, good friends, good food, and a frequent smile!

I used to say forgive and forget, but this recent incident that occurred made me understand that it's not that easy a task! Letting go is super tough!
I had never imagined something of this kind could happen, but it did. Loss of a childhood friend.
But some people showed amazing strength and I learnt how strong we all are.
And you have to move on no matter how hard it is! Because you can't sulk n cry forever.
Questions like why did this happen, keep popping in our heads. But duh! No luck at getting an answer good enough!
So life gives us these bumps and jerks so that we don't become static and lazy. Good ones make it memorable and bad ones add experience.

To top it off, don't take anything for granted, from your parents to siblings to friends to teachers.
Try not to hurt anyone. Even people you hate and you can't stand.
Have respect for everything you own and be grateful for how lucky you are. Our stupid problems are nothing compared to what some people go through.
Live every moment, whether it is a boring lecture or a bus ride or a bad movie or a family event.
And when you understand that life is precious, you start living it to the fullest :)

My Helmet Story ;)

This may sound offbeat. I’m gonna write about my Helmet. It's not a traffic rules reminder, just my experience :)

It was the thing I hated the most when it was given to me. I was asked to drive with this, or not drive at all :P
I was pissed! Partly, because I didn’t want to put such a heavy thing on my head, I was happy with the pretty scarves :)
And partly, because my dad thought I might fall down (pretty certainly :D).
I believed, that why think about the negatives! Why even bother about accidents?
But then, Indore’s traffic reality clicked in my head! Even if it’s not your fault, you can have a really bad day! And then many consecutive bad days to recover :P
So I accepted the reason behind my dad’s compulsion for the stupid helmet.
Still, I hated it! It ruined my already not so great hair :P
Plus, I rarely saw any female drivers with helmets on. I felt Why me!?
So, I used to bluff....I used to put it on when I left my home, then, as I turned from my row, I used to stop, remove the burden from my head, re-adjust everything and go. Also, the evil burden took up all the space in my Pleasure's boot (a.k.a dikki ):-<
So, I cheated like that for a few days.
Then, one day I didn’t have time to stop as I was getting late for a movie and my friends were calling incessantly, so I drove all the way with the helmet. My love story began :P
I started liking my dear black helmet.

We all know the functions of a helmet but anyways I’ll do the formality :P
You’re shielded from the wind, dust and noisy horns. You are at peace basically !

It’s a whole little world inside.I used to talk to myself(one should do that! :D), sing la la laaa and  I was there, through the traffic, no damage, in one piece, in no time ( atleast it felt like no time :P)!
It also provides the facility to abuse the fellow drivers who create chaos on the road :D So the purpose of getting the frustration out is served, and no one finds out! :-D

So it’s safety+fun!

A few months ago, I had to drive everyday for dance classes half an hour away from home. And it rained quite a lot during that time( P.S. it was not the rainy season though… October..to be precise!)
The glass shield was such a saviour in rains! You gotta keep the shield open upwards, so you get a clear view and it protects you like a waterproof cap :) Otherwise it's difficult to drive with water pouring into your eyes!

It gives you a confidence that comes when you  follow traffic rules which are not even compulsory in your city.

Thanks to Papa, by his courtesy, I have a really good habit now that I can’t do without  :)

My message is, get a good looking pretty helmet for yourself, and drive safe :)
Prevention really is better than cure.
God forbid if you meet an accident, if your head is alright, then you are alright!
Don’t forget to tie it’s strap though  :P

New Beginnings!

I love the Western concept of Thanksgiving! Because really, there is so much we have to thank for!
The lots of food we eat, a great house, parents, a pretty functional body, a place to call your school or college, having a few good friends, the fact that you’re not in jail ;D :D , you probably have a computer or smartphone  with internet, and you are good to go! ;) You are luckier than millions of people on the planet ;)

The fact that you’re gonna be able to see Xmas celebrations! Trees, Candles, Christmas cakes, Santa caps, Lights ,Snow(A can of Snow spray in most of India :P)

No year is perfect, and  thus 2013 came with it’s share of ups and downs, in Politics, in Science, in Bollywood, etc etc. and in our lives. There were times when you felt so lucky! And there were days you wanted to do nothing, escape situations, cry hard, or kick somebody’s ass.

It’s the time of the year to analyse your actions, how much you achieved, did you progress and grow as a person? New things you learnt? New friends you made? People you hurted (unintentionally i hope!), or helped! But the trick is to not over analyse, and let things be the way they are.Or you’ll go crazy :P

There might be bad memories… loss of a loved one, failure at a task, a fight with a friend. Know that you have the strength to put on a smile and move on.

Make a list of things, people, habits or relationships you wanna get rid of before 31st eve!
 De-clutter and De-tox.
Resolutions are usually short lived, but still, some very simple ones can REALLY be incorporated.
Like you will help more people.Teach a friend.Help a friend patch up with his girlfriend.Tell word meanings to people.Pick up stuff for the old. Make tea for your Mum Dad. Wish bdays at 12am.Donate little things. Tadaaa ;)

Make 2K14 more awesome than this lovely year already was! Happy New Year J
